offers the UK's only nurse led dedicated prostate cancer phone
line, staffed by specialist nurses, a list of support contacts,
publications, newsletters as well as carrying out scientific
research into the causes and treatments for prostate cancer.
TheProstate
Cancer Charity has been successful in securing funding from
the Big Lottery Fund for an innovative new project (beginning
in May 2006) targeting older men (aged 65+) with prostate
cancer in the West of Scotland. The grant is being used to
encourage and support older men with prostate cancer and their
carers to access the support and information services available
so that they receive the best possible care and treatment.

of the Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) is to provide advice
to NHS Boards and their Area Drug and Therapeutics Committees

National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence.
NICE
is an independent organisation providing National guidance
on promoting good health and preventing and treating ill
health. Its guidance is restricted to patients in England
and Wales but its Guideline 9launched February 2008) on
the Diagnosis and Treatment of Prostate Cancer is clear
and easy to read. |
