Currently offers the UK's only nurse led dedicated prostate cancer phone line, staffed by specialist nurses, a list of support contacts, publications, newsletters as well as carrying out scientific research into the causes and treatments for prostate cancer.
TheProstate Cancer Charity has been successful in securing funding from the Big Lottery Fund for an innovative new project (beginning in May 2006) targeting older men (aged 65+) with prostate cancer in the West of Scotland. The grant is being used to encourage and support older men with prostate cancer and their carers to access the support and information services available so that they receive the best possible care and treatment.
 
 
 
Scottish Medicines Consortium
Providing advice about the status of newly licensed medicines. The remit of the Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) is to provide advice to NHS Boards and their Area Drug and Therapeutics Committees (ADTCs) across Scotland about the status of all newly licensed medicines.

NICE is an independent organisation providing National guidance on promoting good health and preventing and treating ill health. Its guidance is restricted to patients in England and Wales but its Guideline 9 (launched February 2008) on the Diagnosis and Treatment of Prostate Cancer is clear and easy to read.

 
Prostate Videos
This site comes with something of a health warning. Firstly it contains a number of videos which may be very slow to load on dial-up internet connections. Secondly, although believed to be accurate, the videos are of American origin and may cover treatments not available in Scotland. Thirdly, it does contain information about diagnosis, treatment and management of prostate problems that is pretty down to earth and does not avoid difficult issues

PSA is a national association of self-help and support groups. It is managed by and for men with prostate cancer, their families and other interested groups. The site includes information on the disease and therapies.
